The Internet is considered to be the most important invention of the 20th century.
Thanks to new technologies and of course, the Internet, almost everything in the world has now become digital. It is impossible to imagine our life without it for even a minute, the Internet. Whether at home, at work, on the street or in a cafe, we are in need for it more than anything. Endless information, communication, work, consulting, shopping, even travel, all this can be made available to us with just one click, thanks to the most powerful internet.
The Internet is a vast network through which billions of computers or devices around the world can communicate with each other and exchange information.
Initially, this network was called ARPANET․ In 1957, the US Department of Defense decided to create a reliable means of transmitting information. At the suggestion of the US Defense Research Projects Agency (DARPA), an attempt is being made to create a computer network, the design of which is assigned to the University of California, Los Angeles, Stanford Research Center, University of Utah.
Together, they set up a computer network called ARPANET (Advanced Research Projects Agency Network).
After all, in history, October 29, 1969 is considered to be the day of the creation of the Internet. This day, as the first ARPANET server with 24 KB of memory is installed, the first connection exchange between the universities of California takes place.
It is noteworthy that the purpose of this new technology was not to create a modern international Internet system, but to develop a data transmission network that would withstand even a nuclear attack.
The next significant step in the development and expansion of the Internet was the dial-up connection, which uses a standard telephone line and analog modem with Internet data transfer rate (DTR) of up to 56 Kbps.
Dial-up connection will be replaced by Broadband, a broadband network that transmits high-bandwidth data over a high-speed Internet connection.
Broadband network provides high speed internet access through a variety of technologies, including fiber optic, wireless, cable, DSL and satellite.
The next faster type of Internet connection became mobile broadband. At the end of 2013, there were about 1.9 billion mobile users in the world, and by the end of 2018, about 5.3 billion, which is a 180% increase over five years.
In general, the Internet has changed a lot over the years. Its speed has changed, reaching several hundred Mbps. Singapore stands out here with its progress. Here people use the fastest fixed broadband connection - 213.18 Mbps download.
Internet delivery methods have changed and improved as well․ Now you can connect to the Internet without wires and without any additional equipment, all you need is WiFi (Wileless Fidelity) network and that's it, the endless possibilities of the Internet are at your disposal.
The number of Internet users has also changed․ According to the data of 2021, the number of Internet users in the world reached about 5 billion. Indeed, it is almost everywhere.
No one could have imagined that one day the Internet would become a world-wide public network without which we can no longer imagine our lives.
