The telecommunications industry is developing day by day, offering us various services and smart solutions for a better life - smartphones, countless software applications, cloud services. In short, numerous ways to communicate with each other.

Meanwhile, not so many years ago, the only way to contact our friends and relatives was a landline․ It was an integral part in our apartments. And although this trend has completely changed, the landline phone is still alive and used by us.

No one would have thought that in such a short time of evolution, a landline phone from a simple alternative is transformed into a multifunctional mini-computer that can surf the Internet, and at the same time easily fit in our pocket...

Telephony was invented in the 19th century.

Antonio Meucci created a prototype of the telephone in 1854, after which Alexander Bell confirmed the invention of the telephone in 1876. This was the beginning of the era of analog signaling systems. The Bell tube, in turn, was used to both transmit and receive human speech. Bell's phone didn't ring; The "subscriber" was called through a pipe with a whistle. The distance of this line did not exceed 500 meters.

A year later, the German company "Siemens and Halske" began to produce telephone sets with two telephones, one for voice transmission. And in 1878, Thomas Edison invented the carbon microphone, which was widely used almost unchanged until the early 1990s and still works in some places.

Telephones have become an indispensable element of any home in the 20th century. And already in the 1990s, IP-telephony (VOIP) was introduced to the world, using a completely different technology, which is a modern type of high-tech communication. Voice over IP (VOIP) allows you to use your phone to make real-time calls over the Internet or any other IP network.

Unlike analog telephony, IP telephony does not have a conventional telephone connection with conventional devices or cables. In this case, communication takes place through devices that have direct access to the Internet.

From the day of its inception, the invention of the telephone has had a great impact on the world economy, industry - it was acquired by all businessmen for its commercialization. This is an invention that has not lost its usefulness over the years.
